Getting around

Roads and waterways are the main routes to Ayutthaya. In the old days waterways were the main means of transportation to Ayutthaya, but nowadays roads are widely used as it is faster and more convenient. There are four public routes for buses from Bangkok to Ayutthaya; highway, provincial road, 23 standard bus routes that connect Ayutthaya to neighboring provinces as well as 45 bus routes within the province. In addition, there are 114 trains passing through Ayutthaya to the north and the northeast everyday mostly passing Bang Pa – In, Ayutthaya City, Phachee and Tha Rua districts. Transportation by water is only used in the small communities for agricultural and industrial transportation / as well as for tourist sight seeing.
